Sie sind laut, sie sind frech und sie singen Englisch. Ihr Debut-Album "Hello" ist explodiert 2009 wie eine Bombe. Und quasi über Nacht ist "The Toobes" zu einer der bekanntesten Bands aus ... Belarus geworden - sie wurde zum Gewinner des belarussisch-schwedischen Musikwettbewerbs "“BandScan”. Ein Jahr später wird die Band neben den Bands "Bez Bileta" und "Ljapis Trubetskoj" zur „Rock-Krönung“ (Rok-Karanacyja/Rok-Koronacija) nominiert, der Höhepunkt der belarussischen Musikevents, wo die beste Band, das beste Album, der beste Song und die musikalische Überraschung des Jahres gekrönt werden. Eine Sensation!

Aber auch das nicht genug. Nach zahlreichen Festivals, spielen "The Toobes" heute in Moskaer Clubs, treten als Vorband u.a. bei der schottischen Band Franz Ferdinand auf und stehen mittlerweile unter Vertrag bei dem britischen Starmusiker und Produzenten "Tricky". So soll im Frühling ein neues Album von "The Toobes" erscheinen und die Band endgütlig auf die internationale Bühne katapultieren. Und das könnte was werden! Man sieht die Jungs und möchte sagen - "yeah,  that's what we call Belarus!"

The Toobes are the hot new trio from Minsk, Belarus with a drumming lead singer. Still in their early twenties these guys within several months became a true sensation of 2009 in the native country with their unique powerful mix of rock’n’roll, hard rock and punk influences. Their first success happened in January 2009 when they won a joint Belarusian-Swedish contest “BandScan” which got them to play several shows in Sweden afterwards. In April they self-released their critically acclaimed debut album “Hello” and presented it live during their first-ever solo show at one of the biggest clubs of Minsk which was full of public. In June 2009 together with the highly popular Lyapis Trubetskoy they represented Belarus at the “Be2gether” festival in Lithuania, where Gogol Bordello (USA), Polarkreis 18 (Germany) and Clawfinger (Sweden) also played. Then they participated in several big festivals in Belarus and played their second solo show in October, presenting the free-download Internet-only EP “Indie Who Indie”. In October their record got to Tricky, who offered them a deal with his label Brown Punk. Also the band has received several offers to release their album in Russia.
